Mother's Day at CIC

Mother for us is not usually just a term you use to address the woman who gave birth to you but she is the personification of love. Human relationships are what God uses to help us understand him better. He is love and wherever love flows in our lives, we can see God through that. Our mother is our first love on earth as she begins to love us even before we are born. She loved us when she made the willful decision of sacrificing her body and comfort to house us for nine months within her body. Also, to knowingly choose pain just so we can have life while her own body wastes away.

A mother is usually an epitome of sacrifice since it’s second nature to them. Rarely have we seen a mother rant about the pain that she has gone through to bring life even when she is infuriated (except in Indian soap operas, of course). If you were to read the above lines again without the subject being mentioned you can see a lot of characters that are Christ-like. That brings back the focus on how God uses human relationships to help us see glimpses of him. All these beautiful traits are the reason that we choose to celebrate mothers in the month of May every year.

In Crosspointe Indian Church both the present and future mothers were celebrated and honoured each with a rose. The usual session of prayer and praise was especially given to thank and remember our mothers. The church as whole reminisced over their mothers and prayed and thanked God for them. What followed the Sunday sermon was a free mehendi session done by our very own Pastor Immanuel Thomas. People didn’t shy away from getting a mehendi tattoo, not even the guys. On the whole, it was lovely Sunday where we all reflected on the love of our mothers.
