Two kinds of people in the World

One day many years ago, as my wife was running errands she saw a saying on a church

sign that said “there are two kinds of people in the world those who are humble and those who

will be”. My first thought was, ‘that is a clever saying’ but the more I thought about it the more

I realized it was true. Scripture is very clear, God has little patience for prideful people. The

example of Herod from Acts 12 illustrates this.

Acts 12:21: On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne,

and delivered an oration to them.

Acts 12:22: And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!”

Acts 12:23: Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the

glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.

Time and time again in Scripture we see this truth , if we exalt ourselves God will humble

us and if we humble ourselves God will lift us up . Look at these examples.

Matthew 23:12: Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be

exalted.

Luke 1:52: he has brought down the mighty from their thrones

and exalted those of humble estate.

Luke 14:11: For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will

be exalted.”

I Peter 5:6: Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper

time he may exalt you,

This truth really seems apparent in Scripture in fact it is inescapable . God wants us to

give him credit for the blessing and gifts he was bestowed upon us. Because there are just two

kinds of people in the world the humble and those who will be .
