Embracing Fall

The first homegroup for this Fall took place on the 14th of October after much await. It was a precious one, as much effort, thought and planning had gone into it. The youth of our church headed by Swaroop and Tarun painted the picture-perfect Saturday. A lot of wisdom for managing this event was drawn from Hopdoddy, the sage of good times. The evening started with a game of “Who’s who” which made sure everyone learned everyone’s names. Whoever missed a name at that game were forced to dance to “Jimmiki Kammal” at the cabana. What’s a “Fall” themed homegroup without some good pumpkin carving is what Rachel said. Rachel and Emmanuel brought more pumpkins than Cinderalla would’ve ever needed. All the students were split into groups of three and were left with a pumpkin, a knife if you were lucky, and their imaginations. Everyone was gingerly carving away at their pumpkins despite the mushy insides that made one flinch. Once everyone was done, the pumpkin lanterns were arranged to be judged as to which one was the best. Oh, what a beautiful sight it was! The orange lantern would’ve been so proud had he been a superhero. After an evening of good hard-work, the famished souls were fed with supper that was super. One might think that the meal implied the end of the evening but that was far from the truth. Like Pastor Immanuel had said, “The night is still young!” and hence the fun began. We played a round of “Payila Kai” courtesy of Rachel and Debbie where a blindfolded individual had to guess what was in the bag. After that it was just a lot of dancing and singing which went on well despite the lack of instruments. Then everyone retired to their homes with yummy in their tummy and joy in their full sized aortic pumps.
